Hands-On Experience

We are proud to offer extensive hands-on experience. All residents are placed at schools and play an active role in the athletic programs and community. Each resident is the Head Athletic Trainer at their respective school and has complete autonomy. They are mentored and developed by the Athleticare Staff and Faculty as they navigate the transition to practice working through the clinical management of providing care for their respective student-athletes for all practices, games, and other sport-related events. They will grow experientially through the opportunity of developing and leading their own sports medicine program within their respective school interacting with students, coaches, administration, and parents along the way.

During the time that residents are not working within their school, they are completing the didactic component of the residency. They will be paired with orthopedic surgeons, physical therapists, chiropractors, registered dieticians, sports psychologists, and healthcare administrators and participate in the day-to-day operations focusing on their experimental development and practical application.

Our staff and partners are an excellent source of practical education in the sports medicine field and are committed to creating an environment that is supportive and contributes to experiential learning. Participants will gain a much deeper understanding of the sports medicine field while honing their practical skills and perfecting their “art”.
