Every youth sports program, no matter the size or level of resources, has access to onsite certified athletic trainers — on the game field as well as off the field, all year round.
To build stronger, safer sports programs by connecting underserved schools with sports medicine, empowering athletic trainers to grow and excel, protecting student athletes from injury, and supporting communities with programs, services and resources.
Athleticare Sports Health Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2014 by Dr. Ron Wagner, who saw that many St. Louis high school sports programs didn't have the resources to operate safely. Today we provide schools with the resources and services to build safer programs — and give athletic trainers professional development through our fellowship and residency programs.
“Sports changed my life for the better. They taught me valuable lessons and built up my character.” — Dr. Ron Wagner, Founder
Dr. Wagner believes sports build character, sportsmanship and healthy lifelong habits — but that programs without enough resources put young athletes at greater risk of injury. Athleticare closes that gap by placing certified athletic trainers in underserved schools, educating students, parents and coaches on injury prevention, and helping with treatment and rehabilitation.
