The Vital Role of Certified Athletic Trainers in High Schools
When high schools cannot afford a certified athletic trainer, students are at risk for injuries and even untimely end a young athlete’s athletic career. Catastrophic injuries and death to young athletes are destroying families and communities.
To combat this growing problem, we want to infuse sporting programs with certified athletic trainers that provide solid education for athletes, parents, and coaches on injury prevention, treatment and rehabilitation. An athlete’s safety doesn’t begin and end on the game field. It’s what happens between the games, and in the athletic training room. Our goal is to see less injuries, proper technique, and ultimately strong and safe sporting programs that are successful and fun.
Our Athletic Trainers
Certified athletic trainers can serve as a powerful addition to a school’s athletic department staff. Athletic trainers that are certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification have achieved a bachelor’s degree in athletic training, health, physical education or exercise science from an accredited institution and passed an NATABOC certification.
We take pride in becoming an integral part in the school’s athletics department staff, working with schools to structure a dedicated sports medicine program that includes onsite certified athletic trainers, year round to provide the following services:
- Immediate care, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of sports injuries
- Educate student-athletes and parents on injury prevention techniques
- Work with coaches to implement injury prevention and corrective exercise programs
- Provide MSHSAA Sports Medicine updates to coaches and administration
- First Aid and CPR training for coaches, administration, and teachers
- Wrestling Weight Assessments Assists with grant writing for sports medicine and emergency equipment
- Promote a safe and positive sports
- Safe Sports Schools status

For Athletic Trainers
Hands-On Experience
Athletic trainers can help prevent and treat injury and reduce district liability for sports injuries – supporting athletes from the sidelines of every game and practice, during weight training sessions, and/or other athletic events hosted by the school. Our athletic trainers serve as the first point of contact in the event of a sports injury, working to reduce any long-term injury impact for student-athletes.
In assessing your need for an athletic trainer, we recommend you fill out our Client Needs Survey, which we provide to our school districts as we prepare to pair them with an athletic trainer. This survey will help you evaluate your current safety standards, your overall program needs, and what resources you have available.
Access to a certified athletic trainer is within reach. Should you decide to move forward with a certified athletic trainer for your high school, contact us for details on how we can pair you with an athletic trainer that is ideal for your school.
