Brent became Director of Athletic Healthcare Services in August 2016 with a goal of changing the culture of athletic training in St. Louis and advancing Athleticare's mission. Born and raised in St. Peters, Missouri, he graduated from SLUH in 2000 and went on to play football and study athletic training at Central Methodist University, earning a B.S. in Athletic Training and Chemistry and a B.A. in Biology and Spanish in 2005. In the early 2000s he was an Academic All-American and an all-HAAC Defensive End — success that carried from the field into the classroom and his career.
Brent's career has centered on clinical rehabilitation and outreach to area middle and high schools. He spent most of it in Panama City, Florida, as Director of Sports Medicine for a privately owned outpatient rehabilitation clinic, overseeing purchasing for multiple clinics, durable medical equipment (DME) and elite-level performance enhancement. There he founded MVP Sports Enhancement, which trained everyone from beginners to elite professionals; its graduates compete nationally and internationally, and it became one of the most sought-after performance programs in Northwest Florida.
Brent believes time and effort lead to success in athletics and in life. His family — his wife and six children — comes first, whether it's movie night or home run derby in the park. A devoted sports fan, he's glad to be back in St. Louis following the Cardinals and Blues. His personal mission statement: "Change the lives of those around you."
